A visit to the Auckland Art Fair this year exhibited at The Cloud on Auckland’s waterfront was a wonderful experience.

38 Exhibiting Galleries           Guided Tours          Artist and Gallerist Talks         Art Fair Forums         Cafe

Warwick Henderson talk about building an art collection and the role of dealer galleries was very informative, as well as an opportunity to purchase his latest book on that subject at discount.  Being able to ask artists and dealers questions face to face was a great opportunity but difficult in the noisy environment at times.

The exhibitions ranged from the Neil Frazer Rogue Wave series at the Martin Browne stand as shown on the right

to photography at the McNamara Gallery stand to Terry Stringer’s bronze sculptures at Mark Hutchins Fine Art stand, to beautiful works by Raymond Ching, Michael Smither and more at the Artis Gallery stand.

There were exquisite pieces by Neil Dawson of painted steel on the walls of the Jonathan Smart Gallery stand.  Beautiful glass works by Ann Robinson at the Milford Galleries Dunedin stand and FHE Galleries stand.  I liked Josephine Cachemaille paintings exploring ‘fools’gold’, Orexart had some interesting artworks ……….   and there was so much more.

Definitely worth a look.
