Attended the annual Treasured Art Auction at Ingham Sears Mercedes Benz showroom in Totara St, Mount Maunganui  on Thursday May 16th 2013, which is followed by an exhibition and sale at the showroom from Friday 17th until Saturday 18th May Between 10am – 3pm.  The Rotary Club of Tauranga Sunrise launched the 2013 Treasured Art project again to support Kiwican, a very worthwhile youth development programme in schools to help chidren build self-worth, confidence and the skills to make good decisions in their lives.

With drinks and nibbles supplied this is a wonderful event to attend (my third year), with beautiful artworks to bid on and purchase direct from the exhibition.  The auction was slow and the crowd quiet – sad for the charity which receives 50% commision on some works and others donated.  But there is still plenty to see there on Friday and Saturday.  Artists whose works are available include Michael Sass, Richard Smith, Suzanne Smith, Carol Tappin, John Towers, Antony Warnes (whose works featured in the auction), Michael White, Tony Ogle, Danny Redwood, Rob McGregor, Paula McNeill, Elliott Mason, Holly O’Neill, Angela Meeson, Janice Ingram Pilbrow, Carole Hughes, Susan Harrison-Tustain, Jannine Gory, Wendy Goodwin, Nick Eggleston, Jenny Coker, Lynne Brown, Anita Blanchett, Jayne Baume and Peter Wallers (whose work ‘Mt Maunganui from Ocean Beach’ will soon appear on this website).
