Susan Harrison-Tustain has been painting “forever”. At the age of three she remembers drawing – crayon in hand – on her newly painted bedroom wall. Her exhibitions now see patrons from throughout New Zealand and many countries attend these much awaited events.
Susan’s original oil paintings and watercolor paintings of figurative, still life, floral (particularly rose paintings), portrait studies, as well as time-worn interior scenes, aged doors and window studies, are painted with a great sensitivity to her subject. Her work captures an emotion and a connection that often remains in the memories of the viewers of her work.
Susan lives in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand exhibiting superlative works every four years. Her works include watercolours and oils, she also produces DVDs, art books, fine art prints and conducts private or online workshops.
“I believe the true magic of a painting lies in the ability of the artist to communicate a feeling, an emotion, a message and a sense of ‘being there’. We are told a ‘feeling’ is not tangible – an artist can create an impresison it is.” [The Art of Susan Harrison-Tustain Volume 2 Prologue by Susan]
She was included in the recent book The Power of Us.
