Born in 1942 Bill MacCormick has been painting in watercolour and oils for over 60 years. He studied art at the Elam school of fine art, Auckland in the late 1950’s.
Early work was influenced by the landscapes of the explorer artists of nineteenth century New Zealand and the feeling for light of the impressionists. In later years his paintings have dealt with a wide range of subjects, from landscape, interiors, portraits, still life. Of special interest to him is the emotional power of buildings in the New Zealand landscape that tell of those who have gone before us.
Bill is an elected artist at the academy of fine arts, Wellington.
