Albumen photographic print by unknown photographer of White Terrace as shown in John Leech Gallery Ltd exhibition “The Lost 8th Wonder” in July 2011. Photographer probably from Burton Brothers photography studio [Te Papa collection].
“The light shining through the steam rising from the top of the White Terraces gives this image an ethereal feeling. The silica makeup of the terraces is evident in this study of the Tattooed Rocks as this portion of the terraces is known.” As stated in the Certificate of Authenticity from John Gow, Director of John Leech Gallery Gow Lansford Gallery that accompanies the print.
This print has been treated, is framed with a tasteful 30mm timber frame around a cream matt board, glass protected and kept in a no sunlight environment for preservation. Actual print size is 224 x 281mm.
A lovely collectable piece of history.
